Light UP Malawi Selected as an Unreasonable Institute Finalist!
We are very excited to announce that Light Up Malawi will be featured on the Unreasonable Institute Marketplace to participate in the final round of a competition that will secure investors, advisors and put us on the fast track to making this idea a success. We’ve made the cut down from 284 amazing ideas to be part of the final 42! One more round of vetting to go…
The marketplace is a crowdsourcing competition to determine which organizations get the twenty-five spots. The first twenty-five to raise US $6,500 will be accepted. The catch, though, is that the system is structured against receiving large donations: donors can only give $10 per person on the first week, $50 per person on the second week, and so on. Instead of waiting for the final weeks to secure US $500 + donations, we need to assume that the winners will be able to mobilize 650 people to donate $10 in the first few days. I’ll send another email once the finalist marketplace goes live and we have a URL to point people to.Its entirely possible to get $6500 raised in 24 hours – its a race to get the help to help the people!
Please join us as we embark on taking one country at a time to 100% penetration of sustainable energy. You can help by spreading the word or by making a small donation. Anything reached above the $6500 will be put towards buying solar lanterns for Haiti and helping with their ongoing energy needs.
